The Faulkner-Van Buren Regional Library System seeks applications from highly motivated, innovative, collaborative, and service-oriented professionals to join the Library as our Regional Administrator.
OVERVIEW
ADMINISTRATION
The Administrator of the Faulkner-Van Buren Regional Library System is employed by and reports to the Faulkner-Van Buren Regional Library Board of Trustees with the approval of the Faulkner and Van Buren County Library boards. With overall responsibilities for fulfilling the Region's mission, the Administrator devises and recommends policies for Board approval. The Administrator insures the recording of Board Actions and the implementation of Board Policy.
KNOWLEDGE
Investigates new trends in library programs, techniques, materials, and equipment for improvement of the Region and its patrons. Provides timely information to the Board in policy deliberations.
COMPLIANCE
Meets all criteria for state aid under the requirements enumerated by the State Library.
RESPONSIBILITIES
LIBRARY SERVICES
Collects statistics reflecting library use. Supervises training of staff in Regional services, development of Regional-funded collections, and execution of all Regional services relevant to respective communities. Areas covered by Regional funds include the ILS, ebook and downloadable music services, databases, and Summer Reading programming.
BUDGET
Submits an annual budget to the Board of Trustees, and supervises expenditure of funds. Provides for accurate bookkeeping and financial reporting, as well as enforcing fiscal policies.
MARKETING
Advocates locally, regionally, and nationally on behalf of public libraries to increase greater awareness of public libraries; increase community support, and facilitate sustainable funding. Works to build partnerships to expand services.
COMMUNICATION
Serves as the liaison between all stakeholders, including the Board, counties' library staff, the Friends’ groups, counties' citizens, patrons, the State Library, government officials, community groups and organizations. Ensures open, orderly and effective communications between all stakeholders to insure strong working relationships.
PROFESSIONALISM
The Administrator is expected to actively participate in state, regional and national library associations and events. Encourages the professional development of staff and volunteers.
COMPENSATION
This is a part-time position, up to 21 hours per week, paying $16.45 per hour. There is a travel allowance of $3000 per year.
